Job SummaryThe Scalehouse Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing materials at the facility. This role is responsible for greeting customers, calculating payments, monitoring incoming loads for safety compliance, and ensuring all transactions are handled accurately and professionally. The position also helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while providing excellent customer service.

This role is responsible for greeting customers, calculating payments, monitoring incoming loads for safety compliance, and ensuring all transactions are handled accurately and professionally. The position also helps maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and direct customers, answer questions, and provide outstanding face-to-face service.
- Accurately calculate payments and process transactions, ensuring daily balancing of cash till.
- Monitor incoming loads to verify safety and compliance with facility standards.
- Enforce safety protocols, ensuring customers and employees follow site rules and wear required PPE.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the scalehouse and surrounding area.
- Perform administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and completing required reports.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding issues, concerns, or operational needs.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as directed.
- Work overtime as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
- Required: High school diploma or GED; 0–4 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: High school diploma or GED with additional training and related experience.
- Strong computer literacy, including use of proprietary software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Prior cash-handling experience, including balancing a till.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen prior to start.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required, including steel-toe boots.
- Typical setting: scalehouse facility.
- Regular use of computer, keyboard, and office equipment.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 lbs.
- Periodic exposure to occupational risks (chemicals, cuts, burns, etc.).
- Frequent exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, odors, noise, and varying weather.
