Our client’s Support Services Department is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant for a 13-week contract role supporting our overnight operations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical laboratory workflows in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Our client’s Support Services Department is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant for a 13-week contract role supporting our overnight operations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical laboratory workflows in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process & Prepare: Accurately prepare and process patient specimens for laboratory testing with attention to pre- and post-analytic procedures.
- Order Entry: Enter patient demographics and lab test orders into information systems; maintain strict confidentiality.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional support to patients, caregivers, and lab staff in accordance with HFHS standards.
- Logistics & Transport: Ensure accurate labeling, specimen integrity, and timely transport.
- Phlebotomy (as needed): May perform occasional blood collection if trained and competent.
- Lab Support: Operate autoclaves, maintain cleanliness, and perform clerical duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting preferred.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain high productivity standards.
- Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience or formal training (preferred for roles that require blood collection).
- Must be able to stand/walk for long periods and accurately enter data into computer systems.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver’s license are required for off-site assignments.
- Shift: 9:30 PM – 6:00 AM, 5 nights per week
- Weekends: May require 8- or 12-hour shifts depending on staffing needs
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: August 11, 2025 – End: November 8, 2025)
