Pay Rate: $35.96/hour
Contract Length: 6 months through March 2026 (potential for extension)

Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components. This role involves performing engineering analysis, developing new or re-designed components, and supporting vehicle and component integration. The position also provides opportunities to collaborate cross-functionally, mentor junior staff, and contribute to both ongoing and new vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and design tasks according to industry standards.
- Support in the preparation of plans, design methods, and technical reports.
- Lead projects or manage portions of projects of varying complexity.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
- Mentor entry-level engineers, designers, and technicians as needed.
- Ensure compliance with design criteria, drawing standards, and company processes.
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
- Conduct analysis to support material and component selection.
- Provide technical assistance to production teams and resolve reported issues.
- Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain project documentation and records for research and analysis.
- Apply analytical and mathematical methods to model system performance and optimize designs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and systems.
- Proficiency in high-level CAD tools (e.g., Creo, PTC, or similar).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage moderately complex projects and make sound technical decisions.
- Effective problem-solving and judgment in adapting established practices to new challenges.
- Capable of instructing and guiding junior staff on related projects.
- Office and shop floor environment with routine shift hours.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer use.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Some variability in workload, requiring adaptability to shifting priorities and deadlines.
