Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Cytotechnologist to join their Pathology Cytology Lab in Detroit, MI. This full-time, 13-week contract offers a competitive pay rate of $57.14/hr and an opportunity to work in a high-volume cytology department performing PAP screenings and supporting FNA procedures.
Position Details:
- Job Title: Cytotechnologist
- Location: Detroit, MI – 2799 W. Grand Blvd
- Pay Rate: $57.14/hr
- Schedule: 40 hours per week (5 shifts/week, 8-hour shifts)
- Start Date: 04/28/2025
- End Date: 07/25/2025
- Process specimens and stain smears according to departmental guidelines.
- Examine PAP smears and other cytologic specimens microscopically to detect abnormalities.
- Classify specimens as normal, abnormal, or diagnostic for cancer and correlate findings with surgical reports.
- Participate in Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedures and assess sample adequacy.
- Maintain accurate documentation of workload, specimen tracking, and quality assurance metrics.
- Assist with training new staff, residents, and students.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with CLIA 88 standards.
- Maintain and troubleshoot cytology laboratory equipment.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a CAAHEP-accredited Cytotechnology program
- Thin Prep Imaging and Thin Prep Certification required
- If starting after 5/13/2025, must have 2024 or 2025 proficiency test completed with results available
- At least 3 years of cytology experience preferred
- FNA adequacy experience preferred
- Strong ability to analyze slides and detect abnormalities
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
