Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing reliable, cost-effective components for heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves performing engineering analysis, redesign, and validation of mechanical systems, ensuring design integrity, manufacturability, and performance across new and existing vehicle platforms. The engineer will also support cross-functional integration, supplier collaboration, and mentoring of junior team members.

Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing reliable, cost-effective components for heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves performing engineering analysis, redesign, and validation of mechanical systems, ensuring design integrity, manufacturability, and performance across new and existing vehicle platforms. The engineer will also support cross-functional integration, supplier collaboration, and mentoring of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering calculations, design analysis, and related technical investigations according to company and industry standards.
- Develop, modify, and integrate vehicle components and systems for new and existing products.
- Prepare and review designs, plans, reports, and computation methods.
- Manage assigned projects or sub-projects with limited complexity and oversee multiple concurrent efforts when needed.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to ensure technical alignment and quality deliverables.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Ensure all design activities adhere to established engineering standards, criteria, and procedures.
- Evaluate product designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Prepare and maintain detailed drawings, specifications, layouts, and bills of material.
- Support material and component selection through engineering analysis and supplier engagement.
- Provide technical support for production and resolve design-related issues as they arise.
- Create and maintain project documentation for reporting, analysis, and historical reference.
- Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations as required.
- Use analytical and mathematical models to assess and optimize system performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
- Experience with Creo, PTC, Windchill, and Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle engineering
- Familiarity with component and system design for ITAR-regulated environments
- Prior experience with the company’s engineering systems or design processes is a plus
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Ability to evaluate and resolve engineering problems effectively
- Solid organizational and project management skills
- Collaborative team player with cross-functional coordination experience
- Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, standards, and specifications
- Office and shop floor environment requiring frequent standing, walking, sitting, and computer use
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. and handling of mechanical components
- Regular collaboration with multiple departments and technical teams
- Standard weekday schedule with occasional extended hours as project demands require
